Connective

The Zuidkas building is situated in the Ravel sub-area of the Zuidas in Amsterdam, the site of a new urban area development that includes homes, offices, stores and educational facilities. The functional mix incorporated in the Zuidkas, as a component of its sustainability strategy, is in line with the intended functional mix in this area. The shape of the greenhouse landscape on the roof of the building is determined by the various skyline accents outlined in the urban development plan. The greenhouse connects the different roof levels, so that the building retains the image of a single building block. This creates a connective building that is embedded in the location in terms of function and form.
